Multi-genre Research Paper

This paper was assigned for an advanced writing class. We had complete freedom to write about whatever we wanted to, however, we had to include multiple genres of writing. I decided to write about the experiences of women who were sexually abused at or before the age of 18. As a survivor myself I found that there was almost zero representation for the survivor experience. I reached out to other survivors who felt the same, saying that this issue continues to get worse because no one ever talks about it. So, instead of another scientific paper about statistics, explanations, and call to actions, I decided to go a different route. I wanted to tell the story in a light that hasn’t been explored before. I wanted to let the experiences of survivors to bleed through my words and paint the real picture of what it’s like to live in the mind of a child sexual abuse survivor. I still gave some explanations about disorders and medical references; however, majority of this paper is written from a survivor’s life experience.
